Healthy Ohio Business Council
The Ohio Department of Health is committed to working with Ohio businesses to promote health and wellness programming within the workplace. This mission is facilitated by the sixteen member companies that comprise the Executive Committee of the Healthy Ohio Business Council. These companies were selected based on a proven commitment to providing health and wellness programs for their employees. Council members will work with other Ohio companies to encourage the creation of additional workplace programs.
The Healthy Ohio Business Council and its seven statewide regional councils are a group of Ohio companies sharing best practices for a healthy workforce and a healthy economy. These companies have made a commitment to employees by incorporating comprehensive worksite health promotion and wellness programs into their worksites. Council members realize that healthy employees make a positive difference and that return on investment in employee health is significant to both employer and employee.
Research conducted by Traveler's shows a $3.40 return for every dollar invested in health promotion programs. In addition, DuPont saw its worker absenteeism rate drop 41 percent after the company invested in workplace health promotion.

Toolkit: How Tobacco Use Hurts the Bottom Line
With the support of the United Health Foundation, the Partnership for Prevention and the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids have developed a toolkit to educate business owners on the impact of tobacco use on their bottom line. The toolkit also provides strategies to help companies improve their employees' health and productivity by reducing tobacco use.
